We collect information you choose to provide, such as your work email address when you request a sample alert and the contents of messages you send us. Our hosting and service providers may also automatically receive basic technical information, such as IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages, and timestamps, to deliver and secure the website.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide sample alerts and early-access communications;
- respond to questions and understand product fit;
- operate, protect, troubleshoot, and improve the website and service;
- prevent spam, fraud, misuse, and security incidents; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. Public business information
Ordellan processes business and licensing information from public sources, including CSLB applicant records. This may include business names, locations, classifications, application numbers, and licensing statuses. We use this information to identify and explain commercial insurance opportunities.
4. How we share information
We may share information with vendors that help us host the site, process forms, deliver email, maintain security, and operate the service. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or transfer of business assets. We do not sell personal information for money.
5. Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the service, maintaining business and security records, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. Retention periods depend on the type of information and why it was collected.
6. Your choices and rights
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information you have provided, or opt out of non-essential email, by contacting us. You may also use any unsubscribe link included in an email. Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional privacy rights. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where legally permitted or required.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Third-party sites and services
The site links to third-party sources, including government records, and uses service providers with their own privacy practices. This policy does not govern third-party websites or services.
9. Analytics, cookies, and browser signals
Ordellan uses PostHog to measure page views and general site usage. PostHog may receive page URLs, referrers, device and browser details, and IP-derived approximate location. Session recording is disabled. Ordellan does not use advertising cookies or analytics designed to track visitors across unrelated websites, and does not permit service providers to use information on our behalf for cross-site behavioral advertising.
10. Children
Ordellan is a business service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the revised version here, update the effective date, and provide additional notice by email when appropriate for a material change.
